Chardin Street
This monument was opened on November 6, 2004, the year that the famous Armenian filmmaker and critic would have turned 80. It is located on Chardin Street, in the old city. It was sculpted by Georgian artist Vaja Mikaberidze. Sometimes referred to as the “flying monument,” its design was based on a famous photograph by Yuri Mechitov called “In Flight,” in which Parajanov is seen skipping through the streets of Tbilisi.
