The school was founded in 1931 on initiative and financial support of Constantine Guertmenian and Sargis Devirian and funds granted by the League of Nations. The first graduates of the school were only 13 pupils. The school prospered until Lebanon civil war in 1975. In 1978 the school suffered a lot from bombing and then was occupied by the troops. Immediately after ceasefire the building and the classrooms were renovated and the classes restarted.
