The Parish Council of the Armenian Catholic Church of St. Vartan formed by His Eminence Cardinal Krikor Bedros Aghajanian XV in 1948, survivors of the genocide in 1915 the Catholic priest Hovsep Kaladzhyan (1907-1999), who also was a talented musician and writer, in 1946, came in the United States from Beirut as an assistant priest at the Church of St. Marcos in Philadelphia. In December 1947 he moved to Detroit, where a year later created the parish council.
