The St. James cathedral (surb Hakob) was built in XII century and includes remains of a chapel of V century. The inner decoration includes huge luster, wooden engravings and various rugs. During the liturgies the smell of Frankincense oil and gorgeous ornamentation adds to the cathedral notes of eastern style. The windows are the only source of available light as there is no electricity in the church. The cathedral is open only during the liturgies.
