Armenians first settled in Adygea in the second half of XIX century. Mainly they were Armenians from New Nakhichevan and Crimea. Later the refugees of Osmania Empire joined them. By 1908 about 540 armenians were living in Adygea and in 1912 an Armenian church St Harutyun was built in Maykop. Nowadays it is the only Armenian Apostolic church in Adygea.
