Tigran Hamasyan to perform in Los Angeles

Jazz composer Tigran Hamasyan will perform on April 22 at the Alex Theatre in in Glendale, Calif.

Hamasyan is a pianist who's coming off a banner 2013 in which he released his album "Shadow Theater" and collaborated with System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian on the album "Jazz-Iz-Christ."

Of the 15 songs from the album, the 26-year-old had participation in five. They include: "Yerevan to Paris", "Garuna", "Distant Thing", "Waitomo Caves", "Through Nights and Hopes", and "Fish Don't Scream."

"Shadow Theater" rose to as high as No. 63 on the French charts, and No. 127 in Belgium, respectively.

It was previously reported that the Gyumri native spent most of last year in Armenia, which helped develop his interest in its folk music.

The concert -- with tickets starting at $30 -- will begin at 8 p.m. It is presented by "Eyedeal Creative Works.
