This church is one of the parishes of the Western Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church in North America. The plot of land on which the church stands, in the south-western part of the city, was purchased in January 1964. By 1965, the central nave was completed that was temporarily used for ceremonies until construction was completed. The first service was conducted on May 19, 1968 by His Holiness Vazgen I, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. The church was consecrated in March 1971. At that time, the main hall was expanded and named after John Gogian, a major supporter of the construction of the church. The baptismal room was consecrated in memory of another benefactor, Robert Murachanian.
