The Forty Martyrs Armenian Cathedral is situated in the Christian district in Aleppo city. According to the sources the date of the construction is about 1429. At first it was a small chapel with capacity of 100 people. Twice (in 1500 and 1616) the cathedral was restored and enlarged. Later it became the temporary residence of Armenian bishops of Cilician cotholicosate. The cathedral campanile (built in 1912) is one of the most unique baroque architectures in Aleppo.
