The church is built in honor of the remains of St. Gregory that were brought to Italy by Armenian virgins St. Gayane and Hripsime. In the list of the relics is the scull of St. Gregory. The St. Gregory the Illuminator church is situated on the homonymous street and was built in XVI century. The frescos on the walls are by famous Italian painter Luca Giordano.
