The Karmir Avetaran church (sometimes called Karmir Vank) is situated in the Avlabari region in Tbilisi. It was built in XVII century and was ruined on April 13 1989. According to the official version it was because of an earthquake but it is said that the church was detonated. Nowadays the cupola has been collapsed and the church is in poor condition. The church had a height of 40 meters and was the highest Armenian church in Tbilisi.
