Vartan, the oldest Armenian restaurant in the Spanish capital, is located close to Madrid’s main street, Gran Via. The restaurant was opened on May 31, 1981. Vartan is a family restaurant owned by Syrian Armenians and the Armenian cuisine here has a Middle Eastern flair. Along with Armenian classics, such as dolma, the menu includes moutabel and shish taouk. While the food is delicious, the highlight of the restaurant is Señor Vartan, the charming host who readily offers help with the menu and friendly conversation.
