The Mystery of the Treasure Mountain

In Artsakh, on the top of Mount Gandzasar, which means “Treasure Mountain,” stands one of the most beautiful and mysterious temples in the world. According to the accounts of the thirteenth century historian Movses Kalankatvatsy, the head of Saint John the Baptist is buried at this site. The prior of the monastery, Father Hovaness, supports this claim with stories of miracles performed by the sacred relic.

Las Vegas Welcomes TATA

The Altar of the Owl

In San Francisco, the most romantic American city, among the sculptures of Rodin, Bufano, and Henry Moore a dozen sculptures of an Armenian master are found. In the foyer of City Hall, four of the twelve bronze sculptures of famous individuals were made by Haig Patigian.

The Great Secret of Ayrudzi

The history of the mankind is predominantly the history of wars. The world’s armies march across the pages of history textbooks; fighting battles while constantly advancing their weapons technology and fighting tactics. We have a profound understanding of Greek and Roman military arts, but the history of the Armenian armed forces of the remote past remains untold.

The Enemy of Time

I negotiated a ride with a taxi driver for fifty (local) pounds. I had to return to the hotel from Cairo International Airport. A night in Cairo glimpsed through the window: the Nile with its five star-liners and small motor-boats, palms illuminated by street lights, mosques, a half-moon hanging high above the Nile, silver horns up. And finding myself without a ticket at the airport!

The Blessed Message

There is one birthday that is celebrated by the entire Christian world. In the past this special holiday was common for all followers of Jesus Christ. However, the Armenian Apostolic Church is now one of the few Christian churches that have preserved the early tradition of celebrating Christmas on January 6, sometimes known as the Holy Epiphany.

The Crime and the Acquittal

On June 2 and 3, 1921, the court of jurors of Berlin’s regional court – heard testimony in the murder case of Talaat Pasha, Turkey’s former Minister of Internal Affairs and one of the organizers of the Armenian Genocide; an act committed by Tehlirian. The court’s verdict of acquittal demonstrated the victory of human spirit over the letter of law.
