Weightlifter to honor Genocide victims by attempting to set world record

Weightlifter Hratch Arakelian will attempt to break a world record in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide

Arakelian plans to set the Guinness World Record for “Most Weight Squat Lifted in 24 Hours,” commencing on April 23 at 10 a.m. and finishing on April 24 at 10 a.m.

This will coincide with observances of the Armenian Genocide.

Arakelian’s target goal is a total weight of 1,500,001 – one pound in commemoration of each victim.

The weightlifter will attempt to break the record at the Armenian National Committee (San Gabriel Chapter), which is located at 410 W. Washington Blvd. in Montebello, Calif.
