The church was built with funds raised by the Women's Union of Armenian Christians led by Srbuhi Alebyan. Plot of land for construction of purchased in 1927 laid the first stone in 1932, the same year the church was consecrated. April 27, 1947, it was rebuilt and re-consecrated.
