Tigran Petrosian wins bronze medal in Polish championship

Chess Grandmaster Tigran Petrosian earned a bronze medal at the 2013 European Rapid Chess Championship 2013.

The tournament took place in Warsaw, Poland, and wrapped up Sunday.

Upon completion of the regualtion games, Petrosian earned 9.5 out of the possible 11 -- which was tied with Richard Rapport (Hungary) and GM Vladimir Malakhov (Russia). It resulted in a three-way tie, and Petrosian took third place honors after the tiebreaker was tabulated.

Fellow compatriots Gabriel Sargissian and Zaven Andriasian came in 12th and 26th, respectively, with 8.5 points, apiece, while GM Karen Grigoryan was 30th, with eight points.
