The main objective of the fifth global Armenian high-tech industry conference and strategic business forum was to bring together executives from the high tech industry, researchers and officials from academia, representatives from the venture capital community and other investors as well as top government officials from Silicon Valley, Armenia, Europe and other geographic locations to explore the next generation of emerging markets and related technologies in the Silicon Valley and Armenia and to help set the next stage of high tech industry development in Armenia. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University hosted the conference under the theme of “Learning from the Past and Inventing the Future.” The Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and the US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern were among the 120 dignitaries and top industry executives attending the ArmTech Congress 2012 in Silicon Valley. Four interactive panel sessions were held this year, allowing the participants and presenters to discuss possible directions for Armenia’s high-tech economy in the coming few years. ArmTech 2012 is organized through the joint efforts of the government of Armenia, the USAID-funded Enterprise Development and Market Competitiveness Project, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, ViaSphere Technopark, the Armenian Development Agency, Synopsys Armenia, the Armenian-American Chamber of Commerce and Groupement Interprofessionnel International Armenien.
