India’s Ashok Leyland Company will manufacture medium and small buses in Armenia in accordance with an agreement between the RA Ministry of Transport and Communication and the Indian company. The leaseholder will manufacture buses, investing Armenian drams equivalent to $7 million over the course of seven years. The annual fee for lease of the property where the buses will be produced is one million drams each year, which will be administered by the state budget. The equipment and spare parts for the manufacturing plant will be imported by the Indian company, and the buses will be assembled in Armenia. Construction of the plant begins in the first quarter of this year. Up to 200 buses are planned for manufacture in the first year of operation. The buses manufactured in Armenia will be much cheaper than those being imported into the country.
