Armenia falls 2-0 to Russia

FIFA's newly minted No. 30th team in the world was in Krasnodar Wednesday playing an international match against Russia, but was bested 2-0 in the friendly.

Alexander Kokorin netted the game's first goal in the 21st minute, putting Russia ahead 1-0. To that point of the match, the Russians were utilizing their home-field advantage and controlling the ball for the lion's share of time of possession. 

Shortly after, Dmitriy Kombarov padded the lead in the 43rd minute with a penalty kick, upping Russia to a 2-0 halftime lead. The first 45 minutes featured 18 fouls -- nine for each side. The first half ended with six shots on goal for Russia, and three for Armenia, respectively.

Russia finished the contest with 15 shots on goal; Armenia had seven.
