Arthur Abraham announces rematch date with Stieglitz

Former WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham aims to regain the belt he lost to Robert Stieglitz.

In a press conference held in Yerevan, Abraham announced a date, although not yet official, of Feb. 1, 2014 for his rubber match against Stieglitz.

“The most important fight for me is the fight against Robert Stieglitz. I should win to sleep well at night. I am planning how to fight. One thing is for sure: I will beat him up. If I lose, I will think of leaving the ring. I have decided to remain in the ring by 35 years old. Another two years and that will be enough,” said Abraham.

On Oct. 26, Abraham defeated Italy’s Giovanni De Carolis (20-5, 10 KO’s) by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision in Germany.

Abraham (38-4, 28 KO’s), a former middleweight (160 pounds) and super middleweight (168 pounds) world champion, became the mandatory challenger for super middleweight titlist Stieglitz (46-3, 26 KOs).

Abraham beat Stieglitz in August 2012 for the WBO super middleweight title, and lost a lopsided rematch earlier this March.
