Armenia celebrates 22nd birthday

Today, September 21, 2013, Armenia marks it’s 22nd year as an independent country.

In 1991 Armenia held a referendum on independence in which 95 percent of all the citizens voted for it. A couple of days later, the Armenian Parliament declared Armenia’s independence from the Soviet Union. Since then, September 21 has been celebrated every year as an official holiday.
