Fidelity Investments in Armenia

Diaspora Armenians with global influence continue to contribute to Armenia’s development. Robert Von Rekowsky, the vice president of a trillion-dollar company Fidelity Investments, visited Armenia to share his years of experience in emerging markets and global asset management to help Armenia’s business world progress to the next level. According to Rekowsky, there are many reasons that keep him connected to Armenia. “My interest in Armenia and the Armenian company Ameriabank comes from different sources. I have a cultural affinity to Armenia, as my mother’s side of the family is Armenian. I first traveled to Armenia in 2002 as a board member for the Armenia 2020 project. Through that project, my interest in Armenia grew. Having analyzed and invested in hundreds of companies across the emerging markets universe – from Latin America to Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia – I hope to bring an understanding of best practices in terms of corporate governance and business opportunities.” Rekowsky is the Vice-President of Emerging Markets Strategy for Fidelity Investments, a global financial services company with about $1.4 trillion of assets under management as of December 2012. Rekowsky is an independent board member of Ameria and an acclaimed speaker in economic forums, including the Davos World Economic Forum.
